The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted on Thursday, and with a remarkable performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Enhancing the developer's triumph, its skilled actors also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English won Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Performer for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Studio of the Year. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team won seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Other major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Outstanding Audio and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. Worth mentioning, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only four awards—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamer Selection—decided by critics.
