Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
