As we head into the final week of the regular NFL campaign, only a pair of play-off spots remain open. Yet, a great deal more is on the line, including the highly desired top seeds in each conference and several division titles.
The schedule makers have crafted a dramatic finale, with the two remaining play-off positions on the line in a pair of winner-take-all matchups.
The victor of the Pittsburgh-Baltimore contest will secure the #4 spot and a home-field advantage in the first playoff round. At the same time, Buffalo and the Chargers are set as wildcard entrants.
The Texans require a victory and a Jacksonville loss to climb from fifth to the third seed. Denver will earn the top seed with a win, but a setback could pave the way for New England or the Jaguars to claim it.
The NFC South will be claimed by the victor of the Panthers-Buccaneers matchup, earning them the #4 position. Notably, the Panthers could still win the division even with a defeat, contingent on other outcomes.
The Packers are set at the seventh seed. The highlight, though, is the clash for the NFC's top seed between the Seahawks and San Francisco, with a week off and home-field advantage on the line.
The #1 team in each conference earns a crucial first-round bye and home games throughout the postseason.
During the Wild Card round, the remaining six qualified teams compete: the #2 team plays the #7 team, third hosts sixth, and fourth hosts fifth.
In the Divisional Round, the top seeds join the fray, facing the lowest surviving team. The AFC and NFC title games are then played at the highest seed, underscoring the critical value of securing that #1 ranking.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens (01:20, Monday)
This bitter grudge match reaches its climax in the last contest of the NFL season. The divisional title and a postseason spot at stake, this is a genuine elimination situation.
The Steelers have been up and down this season, while Baltimore started poorly but are still in the hunt. Key injuries could be decisive: The Steelers may miss key target their top wideout, while Baltimore's signal-caller their MVP QB is questionable with a back injury.
Running back Derrick Henry could be the x-factor for Baltimore in what promises to be a physical, defensive struggle.
Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers (01:00, Sunday)
Not only the division title is at stake when the Seahawks visits the 49ers. The victorious team secures the conference's #1 spot and the path to the Super Bowl that comes with it.
This game pits an high-powered 49ers offense against a stingy Seattle defense. Since quarterback Brock Purdy returned, San Francisco have been the NFL's top offense. Conversely, the Seahawks' defense is rated second best in the league.
Seattle QB their passer must avoid costly turnovers that have haunted him this year. Whoever comes out on top earns a huge advantage for the playoff run.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers (21:30 Saturday)
Neither team comes into this game with much momentum. The Buccaneers have dropped four straight, while the Panthers have missed chances to secure the title.
The Panthers it's straightforward: a victory gets them in. For Tampa Bay, the scenario is trickier. Even with a victory, they require help from the Atlanta-New Orleans matchup to claim the divisional championship.
Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars (18:00, Sunday)
Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots (21:25, Sunday)
Los Angeles Chargers @ Denver Broncos (21:25, Sunday)
The Denver Broncos control their destiny for the #1 AFC spot. A win over a L.A. Chargers team expected to sit starters seals it.
If the Broncos lose, the opportunity arises for the New England Patriots. A New England victory combined with a Denver defeat would give the #1 ranking to New England.
Jacksonville are the dark horse. They require a triumph and losses by both Denver and New England to pull off an unlikely ascent to #1. More pressingly, a Jaguars loss could allow them to be overtaken by the Texans in the division standings.
