Dean Henderson Had little to do required in the first half but then forced to intervene by Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. A sliding tackle against Qazim Laci highlighted excellent reading of the game. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged against Albania’s biggest threat in Hoxha. Operated more centrally early on then shifted out wide after Saka entered the fray. Seven

John Stones Advanced forward when in possession, a familiar role in the past. Sometimes lacked urgency in possession with the approach abandoned after the break. 6

The tall defender A nuisance on corners and free-kicks, typically, but may be an alternative to his teammate in the backline rather than his partner. A careless ball after the break almost led to a goal for Albania. 6

Nico O’Reilly A further assured performance by the youngster after his debut versus another side. A teammate did not capitalize on the most of an exquisite touch behind their defense. The role is his to lose already. Seven

The newcomer His maiden beginning with the national team. Somewhat loose in possession but his inswinging corners caused problems. A useful game manager for the boss to utilize against defensive opponents. Booked for a rash challenge. Six

The midfielder Crosses from dead balls and free-kicks were dangerous. Enjoyed license to move in left midfield yet found himself in an offside position upon receiving in front of goal. Granted a merited rest around the 60-minute point. 6

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a high role down the right and also did plenty of dirty work. Showed glimpses of brilliance but dragged a shot wide. Withdrawn late on by a teammate, a fellow player, after receiving a caution. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his effort excellently kept out by the Albanian keeper. As Quansah staying deep, it fell to him to stretch the play on the right but his crosses from the touchline varied in quality. Replaced late in the match. 6

The captain The match-winner netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth finishes for his country. His first a trademark close-range tap-in and his next an excellent finish with his head following a clever run from his marker. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and England stand a real opportunity next summer when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Struggled to make an impact from the left. Had a good opening when set up from a teammate but Strakosha kept it out. His replacement had a greater effect in his place. 5/10
