Former President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.
The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Mourners gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid public safety in the capital.
“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the leader of her previous school, told the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy caused the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor said on television.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told the program that she planned to meet with his relatives.
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he informed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
