When an 18-year-old creates club history in a crucial European tie against Manchester City, it naturally attracts praise and the spotlight.
In only his first start in the tournament - and fifth game for the team - the young midfielder suitably impressed as the fifteen-time European champions claimed a 3-0 round of 16 first leg lead at the Bernabeu.
The teenager, who also had his club debut in the qualifying round a few weeks prior with a cameo off the bench at Sporting Lisbon, then helped the Madrid side overcome the English champions in Tuesday's second leg to confirm a quarter-final place.
Aged 18 years and 226 days, Pitarch was the club's most youthful starter to start twice in the Champions League's latter rounds, surpassing Brazil forward Vinicius Jr's record by a week and a half.
This talent is the latest to come through from the club's academy and is quickly establishing himself as one of Alvaro Arbeloa's most exciting protegees.
He joined Madrid from CD Leganes in 2023, having formerly spent time at Atletico Madrid and Getafe's youth teams, and starting out for the Juvenil C team, where he rapidly created a positive impact.
Pitarch worked his way up to the reserve side and it was in a friendly match in which they played against the senior squad, then managed by the former defender, where the teenager is said to have caught the attention of the present manager, who took over from Xabi Alonso in the new year.
Spanish media would later label the moment as "an instant connection," noting Pitarch stood out not only for his technical ability, but for the energy, character and determination he brought to the team.
During the summer of 2025, former boss Alonso called up the youngster to practice with the senior squad and gave him minutes during the warm-up matches.
Yet, it was Arbeloa's appointment that became the defining moment in his development as he came on as a late substitute in each leg against the Portuguese side that led to the meeting with Pep Guardiola's team.
"I've dreamed of this every night when sleeping, the first day I began playing football, each day you go to train and every day you play a match," stated Pitarch following his first appearance.
"I have just fulfilled my ambition with the best team in the world and in the best competition."
Handed a starting debut in the Spanish league against his former club - where he spent several seasons after arriving from Atleti in 2018 - he has retained his spot for the next four as injuries to Jude Bellingham and Ceballos provided an opportunity.
The teenager has seized it with performances that have defied his age and experience.
"He's a very quick player, and you can see his capabilities," said Arbeloa. "He's incredibly dynamic, with excellent stamina, effort and movement."
Pitarch's mentality has also stood out to his coach.
"His greatest quality is his personality," continued Arbeloa. "He always wants the ball, and when pressed, he doesn't feel it.
"I realize people are astonished to watch him start in a European fixture, but he's playing because I had complete confidence in him to do his normal game.
"Thiago will keep receiving opportunities with the first team. It's a pleasure to coach a player like him."
Born in Fuenlabrada, in the Madrid region, and grew up deeply involved in the local game, progressing through youth setups before entering Real Madrid's famous youth academy.
He possesses dual Moroccan and Spanish citizenship, offering him the option to play for both nations at the highest level.
Under Fifa eligibility rules, players may appear for multiple nations at youth level without being permanently tied, with the ultimate choice only binding once they play in a official full international.
Pitarch has played for the Spanish national team at underage levels, representing both the U19 and U20 sides, and took part in the 2025 Fifa Under-20 World Cup, where La Roja reached the quarter-finals.
Despite this, he has not yet decided to either senior national team, who are monitoring his rise with interest.
Speaking recently, Pitarch confirmed: "I haven't made my ultimate choice yet. Things are positive with Spain, but I will reach a decision in the near future."
This scenario echoes that of other bi-national players such as Real team-mate Diaz and Barca star Yamal. Whereas teenage Yamal opted for La Roja, Brahim opted to play for the Atlas Lions.
At present, Pitarch's focus is on making his mark in the Real side and rewarding Arbeloa's faith.
He played 74 minutes in the 2-1 win at City, which sealed a 5-1 overall triumph and a quarter-final matchup with Bayern Munich.
He was replaced by fellow youth graduate in Angel underscored Arbeloa's trust in younger players to help the team chase future success.
Following his notable contributions to date on European football's biggest stage, Pitarch is tipped to play a key role in that.
"The manager treats me the identical way. We handle it very normally. I attempt not to overanalyze it too much - I must deserve my playing time on the pitch," he said following the success at Manchester.
