The Red Devils Poised to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich

The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.

A Major Acquisition for United

Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her contract, has been a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee signing for the WSL team.

Her exit from Bayern has been anticipated since she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top forwards. According to reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.

Consistent Goalscoring to Boost the Forward Line

The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major uplift to the team's forward line. She has been highly reliable in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.

• For seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
• She claimed the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club seem to be building momentum.

Recent on-pitch successes feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

1. The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
2. The contract extension for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.

Regarding Miyazawa’s extension, a club official commented: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
